Bean Mosaic - The Crafty Librarian This is a paper plate craft that is also art. The mosaic I did may be a bird, but children will come up with many creative ideas of their own, just given the materials. The example is made from Navy beans, black beans, pinto beans, and lentils. I

Materials:
Paper plates. If you use the flimsy ones, you will need 2 or 3 to hold the weight of the beans.
Beans of multiple colors and sizes. recommend using smaller beans to get more detail into your mosaic.
Elmer's Glue-all
Craft Sticks
Time: About 45 minutes.

Method:
1) Use the craft sticks to spread glue thickly over the center of the paper plate. It won't dry completely before you are finished.
2) Begin to make your mosaic with beans. It is best to start with the design so that you can fill in the outside around the pretty part with plainer beans..
3) Hold the plate flat until it dries.
