This mask is only one version of a paper plate mask with a wand to carry it by. It could easily become a princess face, or a clown mask, depending on your decorations and colors.
Materials: One heavy duty dinner-size paper plate.
One dowel, about 10 inches long
Hot glue
Elmer's Glue-All
Markers
Sequins
Box Cutter or Exacto knife
Time: 20 min
Method: 1) Color the back side of the paper plate with a yellow marker. Add orange highlights where desired.
2) Hand draw the nose cut out, recognizing that this mask doesn't have to fit tightly to the face as other masks do. Cut this line with the box cutter. It should be about 2/3 of the way down from the top of the plate.
2) Use the box cutter or exacto knife to cut fanciful holes for the eyes. They will be at the bottom of the paper plate even with the nose. I tried to make mine look like Cleopatra eyes, but they ended up looking more like fish. Oh, well.
3) Use scissors to cut the flames around the top edge of the mask.
4) Add sequins and other decorations, such as black eyeliner, or streaks like the rays of the sun. You may want to hot glue the sequins, but Elmer's works also.
5) Hot glue the dowel to the back side of the mask.
